Troy Lee and Adidas have a long heritage of working together and the release of two SE4 motocross helmets was another huge step in that collaboration.”A match made in color” was a concept derived from Adidas’ street culture and TLD’s painting history. I knew it needed to be clean yet impactful across all mediums and fit within both company’s style guidelines. This campaign was well received by both companies and used as email, social, print and website ROS ads across multiple motocross websites.

Everything in this project was done in house including photography and email configuration meaning this started from scratch in a photo studio. Using 3-point lighting I shot all product photography using a Nikon D4s and various tools to get the proper angles needed for the composition. From there all the images were clipped out using the pen tool in Photoshop and color corrected to enhance product’s appearance. Utilizing the channels in Photoshop I was able to separate and color stock paint pictures purchased online and match them to the helmet colors. From there it was plenty of masking, layering and shadow painting to give the illusion of the product and paint collision. Once the main composition was there, it was finished off by the logo lockup created in Illustrator.
